The Digital Influence was created to address a problem I noticed when volunteering with charities. Over the years I have worked with quite a number of charities, both for fundraising and in raising awareness. Volunteering to help with charities is a feeling unlike any other. I loved, and still love, working selflessly alongside others who just want to help make the world a better place in the ways we can.
Traditionally, charities only needed volunteers who could provide physical labor such as cleaning dishes or handing out supplies. As the world has evolved over time, carving out an image in the digital space has risen the ranks of importance. All successfully operating businesses today have a strong online presence to easily spread word of their product and garner a following. The same model applies to charities. In order to obtain donations or even volunteers, word of mouth is simply not enough in todays age.
This is when I started to realize that charities have to give significant time and resources towards building their online presence, when they would rather put all their time towards their cause. And to lend the onus of these responsibilities to a marketing company can be incredibly expensive. The Digital Influence was born to fundraise and market for charities, without the crushing costs associated.
In its current form, The Digital Influence does not have the resources to fully realize its vision. Currently, our model is to partner with one charity for about a year. In that year we are going to platform them on our social medias and fundraise for their organization. This allows The Digital Influence to evolve over time. I do not know exactly how The Digital Influence will look in ten years. I know I want the organization to provide social media consulting, online platforming, annual fundraisers (for other charities), and so on. Our advantage, is that we can focus solely on the fundraising and marketing aspects and provide these to charities.
Charities take on the toughest problems of the world with no incentive other than the kindness in their hearts, and desire to leave a positive impact in the world. We want to aid them the best ways we know how.
